Prof. Liu received his Ph.D in Rural Development Sociology (2006) from the Wageningen University, Master’s degree in Agroforestry (1990), and B.S. in Forestry Sciences (1987) from Nanjing Forestry University. He was visiting scholar to Guelph University Canada (1999) and senior visiting scholar to University of British Colombia.
Prof. Liu was employed by the Chinese Academy of Forestry during in 1990-2008, as a researcher in the Sustainable Forestry Research and Development Centre, a sort of think tank for supporting Chinese government in international forestry issues. Dr. Liu was employed by Renmin University of China as a Professor of forestry economics and policy since 2008, and Director, Centre of Forestry, Environmental and Resources Policy Study since 2011, Department Head, Department of Forestry and Environmental Economics since 2014. Adjunct Professor, National Seoul University, ROK since 2016.
